Comic Process, Step 1

To get in the habit of blogging regularly, I thought I’d post a little bit about my comic-making process. So, here’s step one. I usually sketch out the comic on paper first to get an idea of the flow and the panel placement. Sometimes I block in values so I can help direct the eye more. You can see here how I used a little bit of darkness in the top panels to help frame the image.

I don’t put a lot of detail in this. I just do enough to make everything clear to me. It may not make a lot of sense to others at this stage but as long as I can follow it, I usually feel confident moving forward.
